Luciana's Space Suit

I was so excited when Luciana's space suit arrived earlier today. It's so interesting and looks so great on her. This is so cool! Like she is ready for her EVA. That means Extra Vehicular Activity. A space walk or a walk on the moon or Mars. "EVA" is so much easier to say. The space suit comes with a complete astronaut suit and real patches. A helmet with a clear visor that flips up. An equipment pack with faux knobs and dials that she needs for her first mission, along with authentic ID patches Soft space gloves and a special mirror for her wrist that allows her to read the instruments on her equipment pack Durable space boots A booklet explaining how space suits work I'm going to blog all about the details of the space suit next.

American Girl's 2018 girl of the year: Aspiring astronaut Luciana Vega

It was so exciting to see the introduction of Luciana Vega as "Girl of the Year 2018" on Dec 28th on ABC's Good Morning America. We were at the American Girl Store for tea that afternoon when they announced that there would be a special event for Luciana on Jan 1st. Of course we made plans to be there.

Luciana's Maker Station - Satellite, Mars Rover and her Robotic Dog

I was so excited to get Luciana's Maker Station and her Robotic dog. The maker station is for Luciana to design and build robotics. The Maker Station has a robotic arm that can pick things up and a workbench for tinkering with two shelves and two bins. Plus lots and lot of accessories to decorate and for Luciana to use: A poster, photo, and two clips to hold them A measuring tape, screwdriver, and set of screws for building A pair of safety goggles and apron Three graph papers and three papers for ideas and sketching A solar system model of the planets A pretend terrarium for plants A sticker sheet for decorating We spent 3 hours on Saturday working on the t wo MEGA CONSTRUX™ construction sets for a satellite and a rover using the MEGA CONSTRUX™ playbook!
