American Girl Accessories and things

Image
I love all my American Girl accessories and other small things that go with my dolls. But I want to see, enjoy and play with them and not keep them in a box.  So Mommy said we could go look for a shelf to put them on. What we found was so perfect. It's not just a shelf but many different sized cubby holes that keep similar things together. I've been organizing and reorganizing all my AG accessories until they were all in perfect places. But once I get something new I'll have to reorganize again! There is a special area for Nanea and one for Luciana. I even put their pictures in their special areas. The small cubby in the middle is for other cute things and a shelf on top for my AG books! We put in some small nails to hang things like their purses and bags. I tried to give Nanea and Luciana the same amount of space. (You probably noticed the Hawaii postcards) On the top shelf are accessories from Nanea's Hula outfit and a cute hula doll! Below are hair a

Luciana's Space Suit

Image
I was so excited when Luciana's space suit arrived earlier today.  It's so interesting and looks so great on her. This is so cool! Like she is ready for her EVA. That means Extra Vehicular Activity.  A space walk or a walk on the moon or Mars. "EVA" is so much easier to say. The space suit comes with a complete astronaut suit and real patches.  A helmet with a clear visor that flips up. An equipment pack with faux knobs and dials that she needs for her first mission, along with authentic ID patches Soft space gloves and a special mirror for her wrist that allows her to read the instruments on her equipment pack Durable space boots   A booklet explaining how space suits work  I'm going to blog all about the details of the space suit next.

Why Luciana Matters

Image
Girls have so many talents and aspire to be so many things, so why is it important to encourage girls in STEM? (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math? Read This ! “ We are living in a society that is increasingly technology-focused [. . .], a society that is facing complex challenges. If we have only half the population—or slightly less than half the population—trying to figure out how to navigate this increasingly complex world we live in, we’re not going to do as well. We are not going to do as well if we’re not tapping into the talent of everybody.”                                      -  Dr. Ellen Stofan  past Chief Scientist of NASA

Luciana Vega and Nanea Mitchell share adventures

Image
Nanea and Luciana are going to have so much fun and adventures together this year. Nanea is going to take Luciana to the  Mauna Kea Observatory  on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Mauna kea's altitude and isolation in the middle of the Pacific ocean make it an ideal location for astronomical observation. Currently there are 13 independent multi-national astronomical research facilities located on the summit. They are also going to visit the  US Space and Rocket Center  in Huntsville, Alabama. That's where space Camp is located.  Dr. Wernher von Braun and his team of rocket scientists transformed Huntsville, Alabama, known in the 1950s as the “Watercress Capital of the World,” into a technology center that today is home to the second largest research park in the United States and to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) with its world-class educational program, Space Camp®. Lots more adventures are planned. We're going to have a great time.

It was so exciting to see the introduction of  Luciana Vega  as "Girl of the Year 2018" on Dec 28th on ABC's Good Morning America. We were at the American Girl Store for tea that afternoon when they announced that there would be a special event for Luciana on Jan 1st. Of course we made plans to be there.
