Earth from Mars

Luciana and I were looking at the new pictures from the Mars Curiosity Rover.  So many interesting pictures. But this one was especially interesting. We go outside all the time at night and look at the stars. It's not hard to see Venus and Mars since they are the closest planets. Luciana says that it's just normal to see them as twinkling dots in the sky. But to see a picture of Earth from Mars as a twinkling dot in the sky seems so strange. Maybe we forget that we are just a speck in the galaxy. Another object in the universe circling it's own star.

This is the selfie Curiosity took of itself in August 2012. Luciana and I agreed that it looks so peaceful and quiet on Mars but so lonely. She asked me if there is life on Mars. I remembered reading that they have found signs of water on Mars so there could have been life. But probably not now. NASA said that water erosion is believed to have created a network of valleys.
